JR Kyushu Beetle Jet Ferry
About
JR Kyushu Jet Ferry was a subsidiary of Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) that operated high-speed ferry services between Fukuoka, Japan, and Busan, South Korea. The service commenced in 1990 using Boeing 929 Jetfoils, later transitioning to the Queen Beetle trimaran ferry in 2022. Despite efforts to resume operations after a suspension in August 2024 due to safety concerns, JR Kyushu announced in December 2024 the permanent withdrawal from the ferry business, citing unresolved structural issues with the Queen Beetle and increased competition from low-cost airlines.
