Terminal Bas Sungai Nibong is the main long-distance bus terminal on Penang Island, serving routes to Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Singapore, and other major cities. Located near Bayan Lepas, it provides easy access to George Town and Penang International Airport via local buses or taxis.
The terminal is straightforward and traveler-friendly, with ticket counters, food stalls, convenience shops, and clearly marked boarding bays.

Getting to Terminal Bas Sungai Nibong
Terminal Bas Sungai Nibong is located in the Sungai Nibong area, at the junction of Jalan Aziz Ibrahim and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.

Directly opposite are the shoplots where D’Rayyan Seafood Restaurant and F Hotel Penang are situated, which can be used as landmarks.

Upon arriving at the main gate of Terminal Bas Sungai Nibong, along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, you will see the Arrival and Departure platforms.

The terminal has a single main gate that serves as the entry point for all vehicles, including cars, taxis, e-hailing, and buses.
Entrances at Terminal Bas Sungai Nibong
Terminal Bas Sungai Nibong has two main halls: the Arrival Hall, located on the left side of the terminal, and the Departure Hall, located on the right side from the Main Gate. The Arrival Hall serves passengers using both local bus services and intercity bus services, while the Departure Hall is exclusively for passengers traveling on intercity buses.

The terminal also has two main entrances, both connected to the Arrival Hall. The main entrance, which faces the open car park, leads directly into the Arrival Hall.

The side entrance, located next to the Local Bus platform, leads to the ground floor of the terminal and includes a staircase that takes you directly up to Level 1.

Floor Navigation
Ground Level
Bus boarding and drop-off take place at the ground-level outdoor bus platform. The ground floor, also known as the Arrival Hall, is directly connected to the station’s Main Entrance. In this area, you will find both an indoor boarding area and an outdoor boarding area.


Arrival Hall At the main entrance, you will find a vending machine offering food and beverages.

At the ground-level Arrival Hall, there is an open car/motorcycle parking area and an additional vending machine.

Departure Hall At the Departure Hall, there is a toilet, massage chairs, and additional vending machines selling food & beverages.

Level 1
To access Level 1, take the escalator or lift from the ground level if you enter through the main entrance,

or use the stairs if you arrive via the side entrance.

Once you arrive, turn left to reach the main hall. Level 1 is the main area for passengers using intercity bus services, and it is surrounded by various amenities for your convenience.

There are several amenities around the main concourse:
- Surau
- Ladies and Men’s toilets
- Convenience stall
- Vending massage chair
- Outdoor smoking area

Ticketing and Boarding
Bus (Intercity)
Once you arrive at Level 1, walk into the main concourse, with Noosa Bakery on your right.

Continue walking straight for about 20 meters to reach the main concourse.

On your left, you will find the self-service ticket machines.

If you prefer counter service, walk another 20 meters further along the same side and you will reach the ticketing counters.

After purchasing your ticket, you will receive a receipt with a QR code, which will be needed to access the Departure Hall.
From the boarding area on Level 1, near the men’s toilet, look for the notice board on the wall marked “ONLY PASSENGERS BEYOND THIS AREA”. Walk straight about 40 meters to reach the autogates. A staff member will be available here to assist with scanning your QR code.

From the autogate machines, you may either take the stairs on your left or the lift on your right down to the Departure Hall.

Once you arrive at the Departure Hall, the boarding area is located at the center of the hall.


Bus (Local)
Upon entering through the Main Entrance into the Arrival Hall, walk straight ahead for about 50 meters until you reach the arrival door located beside the lift.

Just beyond this door, you will find the boarding and drop-off area for local buses, where you can wait to catch your bus.

If you arrive at the Side Entrance, walk straight for approximately 50 meters from the main gate towards the Local Bus platform, keeping an eye out for the “RAPID PENANG BAS SAHAJA” lane. The boarding area for local buses can be found here.


The fare is paid on board. You can pay for your bus fare in cash by dropping the money directly into the cash box. Cashless payment options are also available, including Pas Mutiara My50, debit or credit cards, and QR Pay, which can be used at the cashless payment machine. After completing your payment, the bus driver will provide you with a receipt.

From the Main Entrance into the Arrival Hall, walk straight ahead for about 50 meters until you reach the arrival door located beside the lift. Just beyond this door, you will find the boarding and drop-off area for local buses.
Exit and Taxi Stand
When you get off the bus, look for the Arrival Hall sign and walk straight about 10 meters towards the entrance door.

Inside the Arrival Hall, you’ll see a waiting area on your left. Continue walking straight for another 10 meters and you will reach the Main Entrance.

There is a taxi stand located just inside the main gate.

Should you need assistance with taxi services, go to the main entrance. A taxi information counter is located about 20 meters inside.
